Senior Technical Program Manager, Pixel Telephony and Connectivity

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience in leadership roles with or without direct reports.
  • Experience in one or more of these technical areas - Android Connectivity, Telephony, Cellular Modem, Cellular network infrastructure, wireless technologies (3G/4G/5G), or carrier certification.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience in managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • 8 years of experience in the Modem/Telephony technology stack, and Cellular/Satellite Connectivity.
  • Experience in data analysis, dashboard or scripting, and working with engineering teams to define and track metrics.
  • Experience managing projects and partnerships internationally.
  • Ability to work effectively in a changing environment.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

In this role, you will have an opportunity to shape the Android/Pixel connectivity experience. You will lay out and execute on a technology road map to ensure that Android/Pixel is staying ahead of the industry in innovation and technologies. You will drive engineering execution and process, manage the roll-out of new features, and bug fixes to internal and external partners, managing cross teams dependencies, and external vendor complexities.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams including carriers certification, technical account management, carrier engineering, product, engineering, and external partners.
  • Identify process gaps and quickly establish lightweight processes to define milestones. Identify risks, develop corresponding mitigation plans, and drive solutions.
  • Drive engineering teams to identify, prioritize and track tasks to completion, and manage internal and external trials. Influence external partners and internal teams to deliver features and bug fixes.
  • Oversee the creation of new processes/tools to support scalability and requirements of a fast growing business with focus on highest quality and stringent market timelines.
  • Track and prioritize feature/surface/system development work from concept to launch. Report on key metrics including presentation creation, Objectives and Key Result (OKR) tracking, and data/trend analysis.
