New Program Governance Program Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in operations, process improvement or analytics in a consultancy or advisory role, or 2 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience managing projects with engaging resources, priorities and changing workflows.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a cross-functional, changing environment and leading operations initiatives.
  • Experience with accounting, finance or people operations principles.
  • Ability to take initiative and drive/prioritize multiple initiatives.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent project management, influencing and communication skills with the ability to work cooperatively and proactively with colleagues, partners and vendors.

About the job

The Finance Operations team manages Google's cash transactions on a global basis and ensures that Google's incoming and outgoing cash processes are controlled, effective and efficient. As a member of this team, you'll find innovative ways to manage our complex set of transactions. You'll make processes more efficient and scalable, work to ensure the highest level of quality of our operations, and proactively minimize operational risk. Externally, you collaborate with our extended workforce partners and internally, you will collaborate across the multiple areas of the Financial Operations team.

Payroll New Program Governance (NPG) enables our global stakeholders to initiate, set up, and operationalize payroll-impacting programs, taking into consideration tax, legal, payroll, and cost implications (200+ programs per year).

In this role, you will own the process to vet new programs, benefits, legal entities, etc. and ensure they are launched in a compliant and operationally sound manner. You will partner with global stakeholders across the business throughout the process to reduce the amount of risk and effort involved with these activities. You will partner with other teams within finance, to review, prioritize and execute on their programs in a compliant manner. You will also get a unique opportunity to work directly with stakeholders across all these teams, and will be directly involved in business expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Intake, assess, prioritize and implement a portfolio of a range of programs, ensuring compliance and operational readiness prior to launch.
  • Interpret tax, accounting and legal advice and translate into requirements.
  • Work closely with global payroll operations teams on change management on sequencing of work.
  • Partner with key stakeholders and vendors to review programs at scale, and improve internal processes to build resilience and sustainable support for this critical function.
  • Lead cross-functional working sessions and support solutions. Project manage and report on status of all work.
