Hardware System Engineering Program Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in hardware system engineering program management, team lead or product design engineering.
  • Experience in phase gate product development.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 30% of the time, as required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Consumer Electronics experience.
  • Ability to lead technical teams, cross-functional groups, and vendors.
  • Ability to drive tasks at once.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Mandarin fluently in order to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development Health and Home hardware products and drive the overall tactical execution and strategy of the team.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to meet schedule, system build milestones, cost, quality and manufacturability.
  • Drive product development processes and phase gate reviews with the cross-functional teams. 
  • Lead resolution on key technical issues and communication of project status to stakeholders and leadership. 
  • Interface between joint development partners and cross-functional engineering and operation teams.
