Program Manager, Risk and Compliance, Extended Workforce Solutions

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience working in a program or project management, with a proven track record of delivery in a risk or compliance domain.
  • Experience in program/project management with contingent/extended workforce.
  • Experience in interpreting policies or providing advice on policy compliance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience executing on large complex projects and initiatives on time and with a focus on quality of execution.
  • Experience in identifying and assessing risks across a variety of domains, which arise from engagement of a large, global contingent workforce, such as in employment and labor, privacy law compliance, business continuity, or cyber/information security.
  • Understanding of industry norms and best practices with respect to risk mitigation in the extended workforce at scale.
  • Ability to influence horizontally across multiple stakeholder groups and to overcome obstacles.
  • Excellent investigative and problem solving skills.

gTech's Extended Workforce Solutions (xWS) team empowers Product Areas (PAs) to optimize outsourced operations while reducing risks and driving efficiency through the enforcement of Google best practices and policies. We advocate for informed decision-making, ensuring our partners find the right talent in the right locations. Our collaboration across Google leads to streamlined processes, minimizing administrative burdens and optimizing the extended workforce (xW) experience. We ensure Google's policies and guidelines are consistently adhered to.

The Risk and Compliance (R&C) team within Extended Workforce Solutions (xWS) is responsible for ensuring that Google complies with all laws and regulations applicable to its contingent workforce globally. The team does this by identifying and assessing risks, setting requirements, designing and assessing controls, ensuring governance, and conducting testing and auditing. Risk and Compliance equips, enables, and empowers Googlers to achieve success while protecting Google's brand and reputation. The team is a second line of defence at Google, working with other teams to ensure that Google is compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.

In this role, you will make substantial contributions to projects aimed at mitigating the legal, reputational, and financial risks that flow from engaging a large extended workforce. Co-employment and labour claims are a key area of focus, along with other risk domains that we determine should be tackled. You will assess risk in a variety of commercial relationships across many jurisdictions and work with businesses and stakeholders to mitigate the risk and develop a path to compliance, as well as propose scaled solutions when wide ranging or programmatic risks are identified.

Responsibilities

  • Support and mature a variety of risk and compliance programs and domains.
  • Support in planning, designing and implementation of a variety of risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Collaborate, communicate, educate and influence policy, process and control owners throughout Google and at different levels to improve process and controls to mitigate risks.
  • Support in the assessment and mitigation of the risks arising from policy and regulatory requirements as they pertain to Google’s contingent workforce.
