  • Experience as a software engineer, technical lead, or software engineering manager.

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

Core's User Protection practice focuses on solutions to meet Google's evolving user safety needs. Platforms for content safety empower key partners and clients to identify and address abuse or inappropriate content on their platforms, ensuring a safer online environment.

As the Technical Program Management Lead, you will be responsible for managing, guiding, and developing a team of program managers assigned to a broad range of platform software development work. Additionally, they will partner with functional leaders in engineering and product management to ensure that the assignments, priorities, and output of the work are aligned with a coherent strategy and the agenda to deliver it.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with stakeholders, driving alignment and understanding incentives to achieve shared goals.
  • Build trust with engineering teams and influence technical decisions related to risk, schedule, and scope.
  • Manage hiring, coaching, and performance development for the team.
  • Articulate ideas clearly to various audiences, including executives, and engage on controversial issues to ensure progress.
  • Anticipate future needs and challenges.
