Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Education, Public Relations/Policy or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience managing a team of managers.
  • Experience developing and launching local, state, national or global public-private partnerships.
  • Experience using analytics to make decisions.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: data centers, utilities, government, advanced manufacturing or capital intensive industries.

About the job

The Community Development and Engagement (CDE) team drives business value by accelerating new technical infrastructure delivery and growth, protecting Google’s license to operate in markets around the world, and leveraging community partnerships and innovative expertise to deliver solutions for community development and engagement.

In this role, you will combine your community engagement and industry knowledge to support Google’s infrastructure growth. You will support Global Data Centers’ (GDC) community development goals by providing data-driven insights and programmatic engagement that are based on community assessments for existing and prospective data center markets. You will partner with cross-functional teams to drive measurable social impact, and develop and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Formers (KOFs), stakeholders, and government officials. You will engage with a portfolio of community leaders, associations, and nonprofit organizations in your region. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of programmatic community development plans, working cross-functionally to drive global data center community impact with researching new in-market opportunities, and supporting accelerated delivery of new data center development projects. You will be responsible for further entrenching community development best practices within an organization experiencing rapid growth, serving as a subject matter expert on data center delivery and strategic community engagement and development.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$280,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead global data center community development strategies and investments for Ohio while managing a team of Community Development Managers across the United States (U.S.) East and Central time zones.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Formers (KOFs), municipal leaders, industry partners, and non-profits to ensure initiatives align with both community needs and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop place-based frameworks and research-driven development plans to scale community affairs coverage in emerging sub-regional markets.
  • Develop communication tools to educate local communities on data center impact and implement localized, self-sustaining investment plans and workforce innovation goals.
  • Partner with internal teams including acquisition and development, energy, government affairs, and Google organisation to drive measurable social impact and accelerate technical infrastructure delivery.
