Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with Python or other programming languages.
  • Experience with git version control.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with Electromagnetic simulations and Finite Element Simulation tools (e.g. Sonnet, HFSS, Comsol).
  • Experience with IC fabrication techniques and processes.
  • Experience with Superconducting circuit architectures and quantum computing.

As a Quantum Integrated Circuit Designer, you will support the physical design of quantum processors and associated analog, DC, and RF devices and help to mainstream our interface infrastructures between design and other teams. Our Quantum Processor designs are produced through an iterative process of working with custom programmatic CAD layout tools, graphical layout tools such as K-Layout and various Finite Element Simulation tools for physical device simulations. You will work closely with other members of the team to produce test and prototype designs. Your activities will span from laying out mask schematics, building CAD layouts through programmatic tools and workflows to integrating design metadata in various software tools and expanding on current design infrastructure and automation. This role requires ability to work efficiently in an agile research environment, supporting the changing requirements of the fabrication, test, and packaging teams.

The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Support Quantum processor and related prototype design projects using the existing toolkit.
  • Support RandD layout projects within the larger team (including fab, packaging and others).
  • Work on standardizing and mainstreaming design-fab, design-test and other interfaces.
