About the job

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

This team is responsible for validating pricing data for Google Flights, Google Hotels and other Search products (such as Events and Food Menus) for the thousands of companies that partner with us. We work to ensure that when a user views a price for one of our verticals and follows the link to the partner site, the price they see and their purchase or booking experience matches reasonable expectations. We monitor the data quality and train machine learning (ML) models to improve it, either by improving the data fetching strategies or by removing content likely to be incorrect. We are regularly working to improve our infrastructure to make validation more efficient and to better match how users are interacting with our pricing data.

In Google Search, we're reimagining what it means to search for information any way and anywhere. To do that, we need to solve complex engineering challenges and expand our infrastructure, while maintaining a universally accessible and useful experience that people around the world rely on. In joining the Search team, you'll have an opportunity to make an impact on billions of people globally.

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale data quality systems and design, implement, and extend the core C++ and Java systems that ensure data accuracy across Google Search. Focus on highly dynamic data, such as real-time pricing in Google Flights or Lodging.
  • Develop new features for Google Travel. Build and launch new features for Google Flights and related travel products, transforming raw data from partners into valuable experiences for millions of users.
  • Enhance data through analysis and ML. Analyze and optimize datasets to minimize user-facing inconsistencies. Train and deploy machine learning models using TensorFlow to solve testing data problems.
  • Collaborate across functions and work closely with Product Managers, Business Development, and other engineering and technical teams to shape a unified strategy for handling partner data. Interact directly with external partners to improve our products.
