Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience designing solutions that maintain or enhance the privacy posture of the organization by analyzing and assessing proposed engineering designs (e.g., product features, infrastructure systems) and influencing stakeholders.
  • 2 years of experience applying privacy technologies (e.g., differential privacy, automated access management solutions, etc.), and customizing existing solutions and frameworks to meet organizational needs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with operating systems at a technical level and privacy impacting considerations.
  • Experience collaborating and communicating with team members across multiple time zones.
  • Knowledge of developer tools (e.g., Shell, Git).
  • Ability to read/understand code.

The Fuchsia Privacy team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that privacy is a fundamental pillar of this platform. We proactively design and build Fuchsia with privacy as a top priority. In this role, your primary focus will be on designing, implementing, and preserving privacy features within the Fuchsia platform/OS. You will have the unique opportunity to advocate for privacy-focused engineering solutions and lead the charge towards a privacy-centric future. You will be an integral part of an exhilarating journey, where you will help us achieve privacy-by-design at a platform/OS level and influence robust privacy requirements for products built on Fuchsia. As a member of the Privacy team, you will collaborate closely with engineers, program managers, product managers, and partner privacy working groups to integrate privacy considerations into every aspect of Fuchsia's development. You will have the chance to shape the privacy architecture of the platform and work on cutting-edge privacy-enhancing technologies. You will also be responsible for conducting privacy risk assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advocating for privacy best practices throughout the Fuchsia ecosystem.

Fuchsia is a modern, open source operating system that is simple, secure, updatable, and performant. It’s a general purpose OS, designed to power an ecosystem of hardware and software, and provides core operating system functions like system resource management, a driver framework, and software abstractions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the completion of privacy requirements for products launching on Fuchsia. Provide privacy guidance and support to engineering teams throughout the product/platform development life cycle.
  • Conduct comprehensive privacy reviews of new features and Fuchsia launches, working with engineers across Fuchsia and privacy working groups.
  • Design and implement privacy-by-design for Fuchsia as a platform/OS. Consider potential areas of platform privacy gaps or tech debt and plan mitigation.
  • Embed privacy specification and auditing capabilities in develop-test-deploy workflows.
  • Ensure Fuchsia compliance with regulatory programs and requirements. Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to stay up-to-date on the latest privacy developments.
