Technical Program Manager III, Manufacturing Process, Pixel

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in manufacturing process engineering and one of the following: manufacturing building process development, new product introduction, mechanical fixture designs, manufacturing design, or process controls.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with adhesives and dispensing systems, heat staking, ultrasonic welding, and display or camera alignment.
  • Experience in micron level assembly processes.
  • Ability to efficiently drive failures to closure using techniques in data mining and analysis.
  • Ability to manage simple modifications in 3D modeling software (e.g., NX, Creo, SolidWorks, etc.).

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for using your creativity and range of engineering experience to develop and evaluate solutions to new engineering problems. You will design, develop, test, and qualify solutions in a manufacturing environment, including emphasizing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and early involvement with product design team to ensure excellent manufacturability, yield improvement, cost reduction and scale, mechanical fixture design and test, automation, failure analysis, and advanced process controls. You will collaborate with other multi-disciplinary teams to maintain a functional relationship to co-develop and structure future requirements. You will maintain clear documentation and communication of goals, risks, status, and prioritized feature requests and bugs.

This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for both process development and mechanical fixture designs to fast-track product manufacturing to mass production, which involves collaborating with contract manufacturers and vendors to prioritize and solve problems.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with design and commodity teams in down-selection, sourcing, qualification, and integration of components and vendors used in Google's products.
  • Collaborate with Product Design engineers and Electrical Engineers to ensure robust design for manufacturing.
  • Work with Quality and Reliability team to define requirements for shipment.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and influence Product Design and Electrical Engineering to improve manufacturability for yield, cost, and reliability.
