Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or other relevant engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience working as a technical software engineering leader or 13 years with an advanced degree.
- Experience with technical innovation within cross-functional engineering environments.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience successfully producing software products and large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong expertise building Gen AI, ML products, Agent frameworks, Agent protocols (e.g., MCP, A2A), RAG, Prompt Engineering, Evals.

Gemini Cloud Assist is the Google Cloud AI-powered cloud management product portfolio that transforms the experience of our customers across all surfaces to learn, design, deploy, operate, investigate and optimize their applications, workloads and services. The AI space is evolving rapidly with newer and powerful models, agent frameworks, protocols, and security. As a Principal Engineer, you will strategize, build, and develop Gemini Cloud Assist and transform how enterprise customers consume and manage their businesses in the cloud, and can influence and work across Google Cloud, Google DeepMind and external AI ecosystems.
In this role, you will be responsible for the Gemini Cloud Assist products, platforms and tooling, as well as defining the usage of agentic infrastructure, models and planners, agent frameworks, agentic protocols, quality frameworks, MCP server integrations, and evolving newer agentic use cases to transform the Google Cloud experience. You'll work in partnership with multiple other Technical Leaders across Google Cloud Platform, and build Gemini Cloud Assist that is compliant, enterprise ready, and built for scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $294,000-$414,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Provide architecture and technical direction for the team by being an expert in Gen AI and cloud application management.
- Strategize and create the technical roadmap for building agentic, LLM powered, contextual cloud assistance products, platforms, and tooling to transform the Google Cloud application experiences.
- Work with all the product areas and influence stakeholders across the organization to build joint roadmaps and drive adoption of Gemini Cloud Assist.
- Influence, guide, mentor and direct multiple Engineering Technical Leads across each product area.
