Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience in tuning performance and optimizing for large-scale distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience in Kubernetes, including container orchestration, cluster management, and service deployment.
  • Experience working in high-security, regulated, or compliant environments.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

The Google Distributed Cloud air-gapped (GDCag) Platform team builds and maintains core software life-cycle services that allow developers to easily create and deploy applications. We focus on providing a fully isolated, secure platform for public sector and regulated industries, adhering to strict standards. Our work includes developing the cloud console UI, CLI, and services for organizing resources, while also enabling a robust marketplace for both internal and third-party applications. The platform offers integrated AI solutions, an open-source ecosystem, flexible hardware options, and a configurable operating model to meet customer needs.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical strategy and architecture for GDC air-gapped platform services.
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and mentorship to a team of engineers and team leads.
  • Drive the design and implementation of key platform features, including resource organization, tagging, and performance at scale.
  • Collaborate with and influence a wide range of stakeholders, including engineering, product management, and external partners.
  • Identify technical risks, evaluate trade-offs, and ensure the long-term health and maintainability of the platform.
