Area Site Operations Manager, Third Party Data Centers

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, Reliability Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in a HVAC, electrical, controls, water chemistry, generators, mechanical, or other similar technical domain.
  • 5 years of experience in a data center or facilities environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or Reliability Engineering.
  • Experience in managing people in critical operations roles.
  • Experience in Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and engineering.
  • Experience communicating effectively with all levels of the organization, including executives.
  • Experience forecasting resource requirements in data-driven ways.
  • Data Center management experience.

As a Third Party Data Centers Site Operations Manager, you will manage a team involved in every aspect of Colocation operations of our electrical, cooling, and IT infrastructure. You will partner with Google data center engineering, Engineering Field Service, Network Infrastructure and third party data center vendors and operators with a focus on Operability, Maintainability and Reliability. In this role, you will be responsible to ensure your team advocates for the operations organization, and be responsible to ensure Operability, Maintainability and Reliability are critical criteria for Google assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of individuals, set and communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Ensure team members are following work processes and complying with guidelines and all sites are following facility, maintenance, and standard programs, while making recommendations for data center improvements.
  • Monitor data center systems operation, control site activities to minimize risk, and respond effectively to any excursions or emergency procedures.
  • Develop strategies to improve efficiency, minimize cost, and reduce environmental impact, validate and improve processes and procedures for equipment operations, and perform and analyze compliance checks for data centers globally.
  • Collaborate with partner teams and project leads to set and implement short and long-term strategies.
