Manager, Technical Program Management, Google Cloud Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in program management, technical program management, engineering management or platform product management.
  • 7 years of experience in leadership role(s) with/without direct reports.
  • 5 years of experience with Cloud platforms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6 years of experience with cloud computing platforms and a proven track record of building, operating, and delivering complex distributed cloud-hosted software systems.
  • Experience with program management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana) and Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and apply creative and resourceful problem-solving, coupled with strong technical judgment in developing and reviewing technical requirements, design documents, setting technical goals, and resolving technical tradeoffs.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

As a Manager of Technical Program Management (TPM), you will lead a portfolio of multifaceted programs and will guide a team of TPMs, collaborating with engineering, product, and other stakeholders to define, plan, execute, and deliver programs that support the organization's and product area's business impact.

You will also direct program strategy by leading program teams to achieve business, operational, and technical enhancements. You will scale program management best practices for the team and adapt portfolio strategy to navigate evolving circumstances across the organization.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $227,000-$320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Direct strategic planning for a program portfolio, influencing resourcing, planning cadence, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Establish transparent portfolio review cadence for decision-making and prioritization, ensuring measurable organizational impact.
  • Drive measurable gains in program performance linked to execution velocity.
  • Communicate and influence across leadership, engineers, stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Navigate ambiguity, coordinate stakeholders, and solve problems, advocating for and leading change during business shifts.
