AI Research, Health, Clinical Specialist

Minimum qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD, DO, MBBS or equivalent).
  • 5 years of clinical experience (with training) after the completion of Medical degree.
  • 5 years of experience designing and leading research programs in the AI for health space, with 2 years of experience in health-related generative AI research.
  • Experience in the provision of patient care.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced training in a medical speciality.
  • Experience of working in AI and health in the private sector.
  • Experience working in complex, dynamic, ambiguous environments with cross-functional product development teams.
  • Experience working with partners, including C-suite leaders, Key Opinion Formers (KOF) and policy makers, or with speaking to external audiences.
  • Ability to lead within your ecosystem, and to successfully bring health technology to the front line.

About the job

As a clinical scientist you will be an effective and influential contributor to our work, developing and supporting research programs in the AI for health space. You will utilize not only your clinical expertise and knowledge of the research development life cycle including moving from research into product but also your excellent listening, communication, and leadership skills to appropriately shape the content, design, evaluation and scaled implementation of research programs.

You have experience in working in health AI research and development and have expertise in working cross-functionally with non-clinical teams including engineering, product management, UX/UXR, legal and regulatory affairs. You will have a demonstrable background working as a healthcare professional in your field with recognized expertise in a focused area of clinical care. Ideally, you will have considerable experience with generative AI research and tools.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $146,000-$214,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Use your AI and research expertise to provide strategic clinical leadership to teams across Google, contributing both to overarching strategic direction as well as to individual product and research roadmaps. 
  • Use clinical and domain expertise to provide clinical leadership, guidance, insights and direction on Google’s health-focused AI research projects, work on an embedded model with research, engineering, UX/UXR, product and partnerships teams.
  • Identify relevant clinical guidelines, evidence-based practices, and use cases related to the development and evaluation of AI models and use these to influence research and product development.
  • Respond to the needs of the business and projects prioritizing effort effectively, and work in a portfolio environment to bring your expertise to a range of endeavors.
