Software Engineer, Google Store, Reverse Logistics

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in the Java programming language.
  • 2 years of experience building and developing infrastructure or distributed systems.
  • Experience with Apps framework.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experiece with software engineering best practices (e.g., automation tests, documentations, resilience, performance, security, etc).
  • Experience with infrastructure tools such as Boq, Spanner, and F1.
  • Ability to be self-standing, passionate and solve ambiguous problems.

Google Store is the first party e-commerce site for Google's expanding portfolio of hardware products and associated services. Our site is the place to learn about Google's hardware products, purchase them and seek support. Our product range includes Pixel phones, Pixel Watch, Fitbit, Google Nest, Chromecast, and accessories.

The Reverse Logistics team is directly responsible for the customer experience on product returns, repairs, replacements, warranty claims and customer support resulting in customer satisfactions and cost savings. Our team’s mission is to offer the best device support experience worldwide for our customers regardless of where they purchase our products. Our team also supports the extended warranty program that offers customers additional protection for their device like accidental damage coverage, like cracked screen, or lost/theft coverage.

Google Store focuses on building relationships with customers and providing the best experiences with our devices and services. Google Store offers first-party retail experiences with our products, both online and at our physical retail stores in New York City, Mountain View and Boston.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end-to-end backend systems to power new experiences and capabilities on Google Store.
  • Establish and track to clear project milestones across multiple quarters.
  • Closely collaborate with TLs, Project Managers, UX, Engineering and external teams like transportations and operations.
  • Address customer issues when escalated by agents, and identify and fix system issues.
