Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in a technical, user experience (UX), or design setting, or related experience.
  • Experience in physical prototyping, interaction design and design process.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of designers, researchers, engineers, content strategists and product managers throughout the design process
  • Experience prototyping and developing user experiences across various extended reality (XR) platforms using tools like Unity, OpenXR and WebXR.
  • Experience with design tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in collaborating with user research to craft usability studies for prototypes.
  • Familiarity with AR Core, Jetpack Compose, and material design.
  • Ability to take design concepts from drawing board to shipped features.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage different perspectives, articulate positions, and advocate for user needs.

In this role, you will define every aspect of an emerging device category. You will work closely with Software Engineers, Interaction Designers, Visual designers, UX Researchers, Product leads and Hardware teams to bring spatial experiences to life, shaping how users interact with this groundbreaking technology, and laying the foundation for new interaction models and design patterns that influence future product generations. As part of a small team, you will need to be inventive and creative in building prototypes that explore new interaction models and experiences, sometimes filling in as a UX designer when you come across gaps or open questions. You will be passionate about improving people's lives through design and technology. You will be proactive, creative, engaged, optimistic, progressive, open-minded and resourceful, seeking inspiration, empowerment, and challenge.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $178,000-$265,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and contribute to augmented reality (AR) system architecture, interaction model, and user interface (UI) framework in close collaboration with UX team and cross functional partners.
  • Own and deliver prototyping work as part of a prototype-driven design and discovery process.
  • Partner with cross-functional and cross-product teams, including interaction, visual and industrial designers and User Research to define the product goal, contribute to product strategy, and execute on the aligned goal.
  • Solve highly ambiguous design problems involving both screen-space and spatial design.
  • Help define interaction design systems and patterns, execute on final designs, and communicate user narratives with reasoning behind design decisions
