Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in technical leadership and people management.
  • 10 years of experience in hardware or software development for consumer electronics.
  • Experience delivering products that ship in high volumes (millions of units annually).
  • Experience working with an ecosystem of vendors, JDM partners, and contract manufacturers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in consumer electronics with technical expertise in hardware development.
  • Ability to lead across multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to bridge technical gaps and drive collaboration between hardware and software teams.
  • Proven track record of building and mentoring high-performance engineering teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering market-leading devices while managing complex global ecosystems of vendors, JDM partners, and contract manufacturers.
  • Domain expertise in consumer hardware or software development.

About the job

Reporting to the VP of Product Engineering, you will lead the Home and Health engineering organization in Taiwan, working in close partnership with senior leadership across Hardware, Software, and Product Management. In this role, you will oversee all daily engineering activities and guide functional leads through critical New Product Introduction (NPI) cycles.

This is a unique opportunity to drive the technical realization of products that form the foundation of Google’s hardware business. As a senior leader, you will be responsible not only for technical execution but also for organizational growth—hiring, mentoring, and developing a robust pipeline of skilled leaders. You will advocate for a culture of collaboration, ensuring seamless integration with global partners to deliver consumer electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all product development activities, driving technical excellence across software, mechanical, and electrical design. Ensure technical accuracy and on-time delivery within fast-paced market timelines.
  • Anticipate industry shifts and lead the way in bringing market-defining products to consumers. Work collaboratively with global leadership to shape and communicate the strategic vision, while providing engineering leadership in building strategic partnerships.
  • Oversee the end-to-end development of Home and Health devices and accessories. Enable the creation of award-winning consumer products that address a broad spectrum of use cases, features, and price points, specifically targeting the unique needs of core global markets.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high performing engineering team. Play a critical role in shaping team culture and actively participate in the broader hardware leadership team to drive organizational success.
