Senior Software Engineer, Research

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, JavaScript), and with data structures/algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in developing a data-based product.
  • Experience in Machine Learning (ML)/NLP.
  • Ability to be a collaborative team player and comfortable working with multiple cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to be a technical mentor and propose, initiate and lead new concrete multi-month projects.
  • Passion for conversational education.

We are a research team of Engineers and Research Scientists who work together toward the development of exciting and society-benefiting conversational education experiences. As part of the team, you will work on developing core educational abilities (e.g., question generation) that build towards entire educational experiences (e.g., quiz me journey with nuanced feedback and guidance).

In this role, you will work on all stages of the technology development, from data collection and modeling to the necessary infrastructure to support the development and integration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop in-house Natural Language Processing (NLP)/Machine Learning (ML) technologies.
  • Work closely with other research groups on collaborative research efforts.
  • Develop infrastructure needed to support model development and serving.
  • Work closely with product groups to deliver ML solutions to products.
