Policy Specialist, Google Play Android, Trust and Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a Policy, Legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.
  • Experience with testing operational, product quality, developer experience or protection goals in a cross-functional environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy.
  • Experience with successfully driving evidence/data-based policies.
  • Experience with mobile ecosystems (including developers).
  • Experience working on Real Money Gambling/Gaming.
  • Experience in technology/internet and related policy issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. The team's mission is to create a safe and positive experience for users and developers of Play, Android, the Chrome Web Store and other form factors (Auto, TV and Wear) by ensuring fair, clear, flexible policies that enable business opportunities and success, while balancing user trust, expression, access to information, and a constantly changing external environment.

As a critical part of the Google Trust and Safety organization, the Play and Android Policy team’s mission is to promote a positive experience for users and developers. You will help work toward this goal by developing and implementing fair and consistent policies and by protecting the online safety of our users.

We are responsible for developing and launching new policies: for content and behaviours. We serve as policy experts on cross-functional teams. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to work to gain consensus on important, cross-functional policy issues and solution.

Responsibilities

  • Support Play and Android Policy strategy creation and execution to continuously identify needs and improve processes. 
  • Engage with and influence key stakeholders, including leadership, across Google Play and Android to identify emerging policy needs.
  • Lead the global strategy for Real Money Gambling, including understanding and evaluating the nuances between regulated gambling and unregulated gaming. 
  • Identify abuse trends, gaps, and opportunities across products and internationally.Track and analyze emerging trends regulation, abuse, innovation and growth to design best-fit policy solutions.
  • Partner with Operations to develop, evaluate and improve enforcement processes and guidelines.
