Program Manager II, Pixel, Hardware Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Experience working with consumer hardware (i.e. phones, tablets, laptops, computers, smart watches, etc).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with hardware development and manufacturing processes, vendor relations, and working with contract manufacturers (CM)s.
  • Understanding of hardware build of material (BOM) structures and change control concepts.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to manage spreadsheets and coordinate across cross-functional team and job functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

As a Program Manager on the Hardware team, you will be a member of the engineering team partnering with Google’s Product and Engineering Program Management to bring new hardware products to production. You will play a role in ensuring that engineering requirements are captured and built into configurations throughout development. You will thrive in the fast paced and time sensitive environment of new hardware development, and will offer flexibility and organization.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Own pre-production build matrices by proactively identifying stakeholders and collaborating with them to understand requirements, strategize and plan material usage in build configs.
  • Create mitigation plans for material clear to build (CTB) issues while staying under budgeted configuration counts.
  • Own configuration Build of Materials (BOM) by gathering multiple cross-functional inputs to create a detailed material list. 
  • Provide and maintain BOM changes throughout the build.
  • Travel internationally to support hardware development builds as needed.
