Software Engineer, Silicon, Power and Performance Optimization

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 2 years of experience with power/performance management algorithms on Android systems.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and unit/integration testing on Android.
  • Experience with AI/ML models such as LLM (Large Language Model) or audio/image generation models.
  • Understanding of Android system architecture, including Inter-process communication (IPC) mechanisms, Binder, and system services.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze power and performance characteristics of AI/ML workloads running on Android-based services and custom silicon.
  • Prototype and develop software optimizations to improve power and performance for AI/ML workloads, identifying bottlenecks and enhancing energy efficiency for use cases like Generative AI and Large Language Models.
  • Collaborate with hardware architects, AI research teams, and Android framework engineers to understand system behavior and integrate power/performance improvements.
  • Develop and utilize tooling for profiling, analysis, and evaluation of power and performance impacts of proposed software changes.
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and documentation, ensuring high-quality and maintainable code.
