Technical Operations Manager, Third Party, Data Centers (Japanese, English)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 9 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), or controls in an industrial/commercial environment.
  • Experience in facility operation management.
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese and English fluently to interact with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in working with data center environments, including building and operating infrastructure.
  • Experience with initiating and executing initiatives in a global environment.
  • Ability to perform operational assessment and risk analysis of third-party sites.

About the job

The Third Party Data Center Operations team provides technical due diligence for site selection, sustains and improves the quality of vendor operated data centers, and mitigates and resolves conflict for critical work risk.

In this role, you will focus on reliable operation of the mechanical and electrical infrastructure of data centers, working with the vendor operator for success. You will be involved in nearly every aspect of Co-location operations of our electrical, cooling, and IT infrastructure. You will partner with the Google data center engineering team, hardware operations, Network Infrastructure and third party data center vendors and operators with a focus on Operability, Maintainability and Reliability.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Support the site selection process through operational and technical knowledge.
  • Perform operational assessment and risk analysis of third-party co-location sites.
  • Own co-location sites facility operation within an area/region with full accountability for this area.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about current work and discuss decisions and directions with them.
  • Contribute to focus area strategy and setting strategy for local groups.
