Senior UX Engineer, Search

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Computer Science, Human Computer Intelligence, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in front-end development, technical UX design, or prototyping.
  • Experience with design practices and working with front-end engineering teams for native app user interfaces.
  • Experience developing with front-end native Android technologies (e.g., Java and Kotlin).
  • Experience in motion design related to physics, patterns, and visual design elements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design (e.g., interaction, film, graphic, visual communications, product), or a related field.
  • Experience as a front-end developer, UX Engineer, creative or design technologist, or in a prototyping design environment.
  • Experience in UI development on the Android and iOS platform.
  • Understanding of UX practices and processes, including user-centered design and research.
  • Familiarity working across full tech stacks and production environments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional product development team (i.e., UX Design, UX Research, UX Writing and Content Design, etc.) to present ideas and designs.

As a UX Engineer, you'll work on the front end of our products in a challenging, fast-paced environment, helping to bridge UX best practices and production execution. You’ll demonstrate your creativity, analytical skills, and knowledge of user facing technologies to enable efficient, high quality execution and communications and launch innovative features to a global audience.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with executive members of the team, promote standards, and integrate changes into guidelines. Collaborate effectively across functional teams. Contribute to key projects, ensuring a holistic systems-thinking approach and advocating for user needs across platforms and applications.
  • Identify emerging needs, develop interaction design best practices, and contribute to pattern documentation.
  • Foster a system-wide design mindset within the team. Partner strategically with engineering, product, and Search foundations to define the future of Search.
  • Test concepts for iteration, research, and validation. Conceive and deliver innovative and engaging prototypes. Drive explorations of experiences across a portfolio of features and products in the app.
