Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience with systems development in Database, Systems or AI.
- 15 years of experience with high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, such as clustering, replication, and backups.
- 10 years of experience with database security best practices, including encryption, authentication, and access control.
- 10 years of experience leading technical initiatives internally and externally with industry partners.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- In-depth knowledge of database technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Track record of ideation and innovating technology at scale, and passion for development and the use of cross-platform shared code.
- Strong product sensibility, with capability to convert and drive key product innovations and opportunities.

As a Principal Engineer, you will understand database kernel, systems, AI and Google Cloud to drive innovation to build industry leading innovations across our database products including areas such as AlloyDB, Database Migrations, and in-memory caching.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Take execution responsibility for major programs and drive them from concept to release.
- Collaborate with Google cloud teams and Google DeepMind in developing state-of-art capabilities.
- Lead and grow a team of technical leaders to achieve goals.
- Work effectively with external customers.
