Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a changing organization.
  • Experience in Test Automation Framework and Test Planning with multimedia and compliance systems.
  • Experience in Android systems and SDK.
  • Knowledge in mobile camera and media technologies, such as image processing algorithms, image quality, video quality, and audio quality.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

As the Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for diving into camera and media for Android OS development, and partner compliance. You will be working to ensure compliance of new camera and media capabilities and ensuring existing ones are tested across the Android ecosystem, and collaborating with Android partner companies or other Google teams to identify and address gaps in Android's camera and media capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals, and align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
  • Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals, meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Track mobile camera and media technologies, and research advanced imaging validation using ML/LLMs and image processing, and engage in the API development to make sure it is testable for conformance.
  • Design, guide, and vet systems designs within the scope of the broader area, and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
  • Integrate compliance systems into the test framework, help Android developers and manufacturers understand and use the camera and media APIs better.
