Engineering Manager, Infrastructure and Operations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience building tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
  • 3 years of experience in people management.
  • 1 year of experience working in a matrixed organization.
  • 1 year of experience with Cloud Computing or in a Linux development environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

ChromeOS Engineering Infra & Ops (EIO) covers all the engineering productivity aspects of ChromeOS. Our mission is making ChromeOS easy to change, hard to break and ship efficiently. We are responsible for the build, test, and release infrastructure of ChromeOS. This includes improving ChromeOS developer productivity, raising the product quality bar, improving device lifecycle efficiency, ensuring that the testing infrastructure is reliable and scalable. As part of EIO the ChromeOS Release & Device Lifecycle Efficiency team works on enabling the internal and partner workflows needed to ship ChromeOS hardware and software scalably and efficiently.

Chrome OS delivers quality computing at scale to provide universal and unfettered access to information, entertainment, and tools. Our mission is to empower anyone to create and access information freely through fast, secure, simple, and intelligent computing.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
  • Manage the execution of projects from design to deployment, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely completion.
  • Collaborate closely with product and program managers, product engineers, and other stakeholders to define product roadmaps and technical specifications.
  • Advocate engineering best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation.
