Software Engineer III, GenAI, Vertex AI

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
  • Experience with state of the art GenAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) or with GenAI-related concepts (language modeling, computer vision).
  • Experience building and deploying Generative AI Agent systems in production.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a track record of successful project execution and delivery.

Google Cloud Vertex AI Model Garden is the entry point to AI models on Google Cloud. Our team aims to provide the best 1P, partner and OSS GenAI model experience to Google Cloud Customers. Everyday GCP customers around the world discover, experiment, customize and deploy GenAI models via Vertex Model Garden.

As a Software Engineer, you will be passionate about agentic AI, AI applications, LLM, cloud infra and who bring fresh ideas from all areas including agent, application, GenAI, OSS, tuning, data manipulation, infra, performance, security and compliance to help us push the Vertex Model Garden product feature roadmap.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices amongst available technologies (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle (design, development, and deployment) of an interactive AI partner, driving its continuous evolution through new features, quality improvements, and expanded capabilities.
  • Advocate the effort to fundamentally transform how users interact with Model Garden, Vertex AI, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Identify and address product usability gaps and customer pain points across Vertex AI by leading research, rapid prototyping, and the delivery of production-ready solutions.
