Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience in civil engineering and site development for infrastructure projects.
  • 5 years of experience in a program management or leadership capacity, managing technical delivery across multiple projects.
  • 5 years of experience in Data Center development or similar mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • 5 years of experience in program management frameworks, risk registers, and life-cycle management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Jira, or Smartsheet).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in value engineering and design strategy to optimize site layouts for density and cost efficiency.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of external vendors, including Civil Engineering and Environmental firms, ensuring adherence to global design standards.
  • Experience in technical due diligence, with the ability to translate geotechnical and environmental constraints into strategic business recommendations for Real Estate acquisition.
  • Ability to act as a technical bridge between Real Estate acquisition teams and construction delivery teams, managing stakeholder relationships.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager for Site Engineering, you will be responsible for the technical delivery of land development programs across the data center portfolio. This role integrates civil engineering expertise with program management discipline to ensure that potential sites are vetted, designed, and permitted at scale. You will act as the technical bridge between the Real Estate acquisition team and the Construction delivery team.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical site acquisition "gate" process by quantifying civil, geotechnical, and environmental risks and translating complex constraints into actionable schedule and budget impacts for leadership.
  • Oversee a portfolio of external Civil Engineering and Environmental firms, establishing a standardized "Site Technical Playbook" to ensure high-quality output and consistent evaluation criteria globally.
  • Drive holistic site readiness and design efficiency by synchronizing civil site designs with Power, Cooling, and Network infrastructure to optimize layouts for maximum "megawatt per acre" and reduced earthwork costs.
  • Orchestrate the critical path for site development by tracking long-lead items like zoning entitlements and permits, while implementing programmatic solutions to remove bottlenecks and accelerate "Time to Construction.
