Product Engineer, Cloud Compute

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, a related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience at a company developing supply chains in manufacturing and testing.
  • Experience working with Original Device Manufacturers (ODMs), Contract Manufacturers (CM) and suppliers to lead root cause analysis, corrective actions and process improvements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous process improvements.
  • Experience overseeing yield improvements and cycle time reductions for high volume and parts.
  • Knowledge of SQL queries and scripting in Python.

The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools, and procedures behind Google’s search technology. You will ensure manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled, and will collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. The team develops and maintains data centers to build the next generation of Google platforms, and make Google's product portfolio possible.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support for production and pre-production builds at CM/ODM including driving factory readiness, supporting product bring-up and sustainment, providing training, and gathering feedback.
  • Drive Engineering validation and coordinating with Test Engineering to establish test coverage requirements for manufacturing processes.
  • Work with Data Center Operations teams and CMs/ODMs to monitor, analyze, and perform RCCA on field failures.
  • Manage production and remanufacturing product issues, initiate investigation of issues, root cause product failures, and drive corrective action.
  • Drive qualification and roll out product changes across Google's manufacturing sites globally.
