Software Engineer III, Content Safety Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 1 year of experience with core GenAI concepts (LLM, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) and experience with text, image, video, or audio generation.
  • 1 year of experience with machine learning infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • Experience with Generative AI technologies and their associated risks and opportunities.
  • Experience with API design, database technologies, and front-end development principles.
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative AI.
  • Knowledge of Trust and Safety, Content Safety, or Responsible AI domains, with an understanding of adversarial dynamics, content moderation challenges, or similar safety-adjacent fields.

We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the deployment of Agents or AI-based protections/classifiers, from initial problem definition and data acquisition through to model development, evaluation, deployment, and long-term maintenance.
  • Design and build robust, production-ready machine learning pipelines and high-scale distributed systems. This includes working with a variety of components such as rules engines, large models, vector databases, and scalable classifiers.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams of data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful safety solutions.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in AI research, translating new techniques into practical applications for real-world safety challenges.
  • Contribute to the team's technical strategy and architecture, helping to guide our approach to building scalable and intelligent AI features.
