Technical Program Manager II, Data Center Network Infrastructure Construction

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships.
  • Experience with facility electrical and mechanical systems, and design build processes.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in RCDD, PMP, or similar.
  • 5 years of experience managing vendor relationships and understanding of standard practices in the design and construction industry.
  • 5 years of experience in telecommunications, low-voltage and fiber-optics construction management.
  • Experience working in data centers or similar mission-critical environments with formal change control processes.
  • Experience in requirements gathering, resource organization, task prioritization, scheduling, and achieving objectives on schedule and within budget.
  • Experience in construction project/program management with data infrastructure (copper, fiber optic systems and low voltage telecom/security) in corporate real estate or data center environments.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager focused on Data Center Network Infrastructure Construction, you will leverage the experience and technical expertise to lead projects with numerous cross-functional teams. You plan requirements with internal customers and external partners to support projects through the entire project life-cycle. This includes working with customers to develop project scopes, managing project schedules, identifying risks and communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your project teams can span offices, time zones and hemispheres, and you keep all the stakeholders coordinated and informed on the project's progress and schedule. Using the technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Support cross-functional partner teams and site-based execution teams through technical guidance, and serve as a liaison for program management team.
  • Help develop and socialize processes and procedures to enable the team to operate with consistent results.
  • Be responsible for gathering internal requirements and delivering solutions that satisfy customer's needs.
  • Resolve issues within the organization while maintaining adherence to project timelines and costs.
