Entity Accountant

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional qualification CIMA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
  • 2 years post-qualification experience in finance or treasury, working on cross-functional initiatives.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with ERP systems and SQL, along with knowledge of accounting principles and Google Sheets.
  • Understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, fluid environment and to lead and drive operational initiatives along with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate with senior management.
  • Excellent organizational skills, along with attention to detail and focus on continuous improvement.

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. This role is for Accountant within the Cables Controllership team for a portfolio of companies including supporting the expansion of Google’s submarine cable network. As part of your role you will collaborate with multiple teams as well as with key stakeholders in the business. You will gain an understanding of Cable accounting requirements and regulations in order to ensure compliance in a fluid environment, and be an enabler for business growth.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the annual statutory financial statements and tax compliance process, including management of the external audit and tax filings for a portfolio of Alphabet companies in EMEA that will be largely submarine Cables oriented.
  • Plan the year-end reporting process for the entities to meet objectives of broader Controllership objectives.
  • Perform regular analysis on the financials, ensuring the integrity and financial accuracy of our books and records. Prepare, analyze and post journals at month-end. Review reconciliations of key balance sheet account balances including relevant reporting for same.
  • Stay informed with fixed asset and lease accounting from an International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting perspective.
  • Design, develop and present periodic reporting, financial analyses and insights to senior management ensuring the integrity of the financials.
