Senior Interaction Designer, Ads Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of interaction design experience in product design or UX design.
  • An online portfolio showcasing experience in enterprise-level design, with examples of work on data-rich applications or platforms
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience designing for AI-powered systems, automation, or other agentic technologies where building user trust is critical.
  • Experience using storytelling to articulate design goals and build alignment.
  • Experience designing for advertising platforms, complex financial tools, or other large-scale enterprise products.
  • Ability to think at a system level, mapping complex user journeys across multiple surfaces and designing scalable frameworks for an enterprise environment.
  • Ability to influence product strategy and build consensus with executive stakeholders in a highly collaborative, cross-functional organization.
  • Excellent communication skills.

As an Interaction Designer, you’ll rely on user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences—from concept to execution. Like all of our UX jobs, you’ll collaborate with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative, inspired products that people love to use.

Our team defines the product experience for Google's automated advertising systems. We design a collaborative cycle that builds advertiser trust and confidence, empowering them to make effective investment decisions and grow their businesses.

Google Ads is helping power the open internet with the best technology that connects and creates value for people, publishers, advertisers, and Google. We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $151,000-$222,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Define the user experience strategy for your product area by understanding advertiser needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Partner with teams across Google Ads to understand the broader ecosystem, using that system-level view to inform your design strategy.
  • Translate that strategy into concrete ideas, creating and testing concepts in close partnership with user research and content design.
  • Collaborate as a strategic partner with product managers and engineers to align on a shared goal and make collective decisions.
  • Produce detailed designs and guide the engineering team during development to ensure the final product is built to a high standard of quality.
