Technical Program Manager III, NPI, Data Centers

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in supporting data centers and system-level New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Experience in product life-cycle in the data center hardware space.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Systems engineering experience in networking or machine learning rack and pod infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of the tools and elements of the product life cycle such as management of requirements, risks, and verification/validation (EVT/DVT/PVT).
  • Understanding of data center infrastructure components (servers, machine learning, storage, power, cooling) and their inter-dependencies in the context of new technology integration.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

As a Data Center NPI Technical Program Manager, you will own Google Cloud Server Operations work stream in platforms product lifecycle of server floor products, servers and storage, networking, rack level infrastructure (mechanical, power, cooling), machine learning and optionality. You will lead and support process improvement initiatives focusing on deployment, bugs/FR management, early requirements/risks evaluations, shift left, closed loop learning.

You will work with Engineering and Operations Technical Leads, Engineering Program managers, Supply Chain, Data Center Operations, and other key contributors and stakeholders to monitor key deliverables, initiate corrective and preventative actions as needed, and regularly report program status to leadership and cross-functional teams.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage integrated schedules and project plans and assess the impact of design changes and operational requirements. 
  • Partner with teams to incorporate their requirements in evaluation and preparation of new hardware/software throughout the NPI life cycle and facilitate successful internal and external validation testing.
  • Partner with Google Data Center technicians and Engineering teams to communicate and manage requirements and risks for the assigned NPI program. 
  • Lead Google Cloud server operations work stream within the product life-cycle of hardware products (e.g., compute and storage servers, networking, machine learning hardware, and rack level power and cooling systems).
  • Gather operational requirements and identify risks to establish mitigation plans, create program plans, implement pilots, support testing, systems integration and data center enhancements. Represent operations in cross-functional design reviews and phase entry/exit reviews in complex projects.
