About the job

At Google, our philosophy is build it, break it and then rebuild it better. That thinking is at the core of how we approach testing at Google. Unlike roles with similar names at the other companies, Test Engineers at Google aren't manual testers -- you write scripts to automate testing and create tools so developers can test their own code. As a Test Engineer, you navigate Google's massive codebase, identify weak spots and constantly design better and creative ways to break software and identify potential problems. You'll have a huge impact on the quality of Google's growing suite of products and services.

In this role, you will be responsible for Google's hardware provisioning processes, from initial setup to final configuration. This involves developing coverages and the corresponding station software. It will require working with various teams to ensure that all aspects of the process are working correctly and securely. We're also not just building standard provisioning systems, we're using the potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) to revolutionize how we manufacture, test, and deploy hardware. You will be involved in exploring and implementing these technologies to create truly unique solutions to work with Google's hardware programs.

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test scripts to correctly and securely load critical keys and configurations onto Google's hardware devices.
  • Maintain provisioning servers (local and cloud based) and station components to ensure the stability and reliability of the hardware and software involved in provisioning.
  • Explore and integrate ML/AI technologies to create unique solutions for factory provisioning systems.
  • Collaborate with the Contract Manufacturer (CM), hardware, software, and other cross-functional teams to understand provisioning requirements and deliver the appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure secure provisioning by verifying that Google’s provisioning systems adhere to a high level of security standards and protocols. Identify areas for improvement in the provisioning test process to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
