Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Rust, C, C++).
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience in a product or platform security team.
  • Experience with security reviews, audits, and common security attack techniques and mitigations.
  • Understanding of operating systems at a technical level and security impacting considerations.
  • Understanding of a firm user orientation, considering trust, safety, security, and privacy.

In this role, you will push the limits of software security for Fuchsia by conducting security assessments and design reviews. You will solve issues in kernel interfaces, sandbox design, collaborating with engineers to pioneer exploit mitigation and automated vulnerability discovery.

Fuchsia is a modern, open source operating system that is simple, secure, updatable, and performant. It’s a general purpose OS, designed to power an ecosystem of hardware and software, and provides core operating system functions like system resource management, a driver framework, and software abstractions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform security audits, assessments, and threat modeling on devices, software components, and new features to identify vulnerabilities, document findings, and recommend mitigations.
  • Build and maintain core security components, mitigations, and features for the Fuchsia infrastructure and supply chain.
  • Create tools and processes to reduce security bugs in the codebase and provide security-focused code reviews.
  • Assist with security incident response and shape the overall Fuchsia security architecture.
  • Advise and educate teams across the organization on security best practices to ensure products are secure by design.
