Head of YouTube Consumer Research and Insights

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Quantitative Science, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 13 years of experience working in data analytics, consulting, data science, engineering, or a technical operations role.
  • 5 years of experience managing a team.
  • Experience in management consulting or similar environments.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, etc.).
  • 12 years of experience with designing experiments, developing statistical models, measurement, and identifying business opportunities.
  • Experience in data analysis, with the ability to solve problems in complex, fast-moving, and ambiguous business environments through excellent data intuition and business acumen.
  • Experience influencing executive leadership on problem-solving decision making.
  • Experience in market research techniques and methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with advanced spreadsheet proficiency and familiarity with statistical analysis and data visualization tools.

The YouTube Business Go-To-Market team is responsible for driving all go-to-market functions for YouTube, including strategy and business operations, analytics and data science, partnership enablement, and product activation. The team shapes go-to-market priorities to accelerate growth and resource the business accordingly, enhancing skills and capabilities to support execution of business priorities, driving efficiency across business operations, and building excellent infrastructure and tooling. This team combines operational, and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic sense of how to get things done and drive change across a global organization.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $218,000-$306,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and lead consumer research projects to inform YouTube’s highest stakes business decisions, such as what content to bring on to the platform, at what cost; which products or features to prioritize; or what the best business generation strategy is for new content.
  • Define research questions, develop plans, and determine methodologies to address business tests. Design and run quantitative and qualitative research instruments, including conjoint analyses, user surveys and focus groups, or experiments.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Provide recommendations and thought leadership to Vice President (VP) and Director-level stakeholders in the Music and Media verticals as well as YouTube products and engineering. Identify key tests, business opportunities and operational improvements through data analysis and actionable insights.
  • Lead and manage a team of analysts and researchers.
