Research Data Scientist, Waze Personalized Experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or a PhD degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience as an applied ML engineer, applying Deep Learning models and ML to solve problems.
  • Experience building and managing data processing pipelines to generate features, dashboards, and analyses.
  • Experience with Python, and with libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, etc.).
  • Experience in cloud computing and ML operations.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to navigate technical issues.

About the job

The Personalized Experience team focuses on providing Waze drivers with a personalized, contextual, and timely routing experience. The team is part of the Waze Data Science group.

Responsibilities

  • Manage feature engineering, model evaluation and error analysis, data processing and pipelines, model tuning, monitoring and dashboards.
  • Work with product managers, software developers and QA to define requirements, formulate success metrics, and lead experimentation.
  • Use data to help products shape the future of Waze and drive innovation, provide insights on user behavior, and help Engineers and QA detect and solve problems.
  • Work with GCP, Vertex AI, Python, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Airflow/Composer, Python, Looker.
