Manufacturing Test Engineer, Software Development

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience as a Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, or Product Engineer.
  • 8 years of experience developing manufacturing test solutions for Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA).
  • Experience developing or integrating manufacturing test hardware using custom electronics, fixturing and instrumentation and using Python for automation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in manufacturing tests and software development using Python.
  • Experience with creating end-to-end manufacturing test strategies from structural through functional and system tests.
  • Experience with architecting manufacturing test solutions for compute-based products (i.e., Graphics Processing Units).

Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this physical infrastructure.

As a Manufacturing Test Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the manufacturing test processes, tools and procedures behind the products powering Google’s Data Centers. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you are right there alongside ensuring manufacturing test processes are repeatable and controlled. You will collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. You will ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience. You will enable the launch and ramp of new data center products by deploying efficient end-to-end manufacturing test solutions and also enhance product value and quality through test coverage, closed-loop feedback and Design For Testability (DFT).Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive manufacturing test development for new and existing product designs; architect and write test software to drive end-to-end test coverage based on product and quality requirements.
  • Develop automated test scripts for functional and system tests using Python.
  • Design, build, and deploy test platforms for Google's global manufacturing partners.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and root cause manufacturing yield issues and field escapes. Drive issues to closure with preventive measures.
  • Define the Manufacturing Test Strategy for new products and work with our partners to jointly develop the required test solutions and travel internationally up to 20% of the time as needed.
