Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in product management, co-founder, or a related technical role.
- 3 years of experience building and shipping consumer hardware electronics products.
- Experience applying the principles of Zero to One to startup creation.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
- 3 years of experiences in leading strategy for a portfolio of consumer hardware products.
- 3 years of experience working with external partners on device strategy roadmaps, including aligning requirements with external partners and co-defining strategy.
- 2 years of experience delivering zero-to-one products and technologies (i.e., new technology introduction) across product development phases (e.g., concept to production).
- 2 years of experience building products with systems involving novel capabilities and features.
- 2 years of experience in the XR industry in a hardware or software-related product management role.

As an Extended Reality (XR) Headsets Hardware Product Manager, you will be responsible for developing the product plans for reference designs and future next-generation hardware for the XR team. This will help drive our roadmap of devices on Android XR and decide which partners to engage with on bringing devices to market. The role is instrumental in shaping the future of Google’s participation in the category, and will work closely with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and perception engineering teams, along with Product Management, User Experience Researcher (UXR), Business Development, and partnerships. This role will involve significant external-facing engagement, and be responsible for defining the goal and strategy for a range of XR devices, influencing the platform roadmap, and fostering engagement alongside these partners to accelerate device commercialization.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Define and advance the product strategy and multi-year roadmap for XR Headsets Hardware, including reference designs and next-gen hardware.
- Drive the product definition for XR hardware devices - along with high-level definitions related to software and experiences based on requirements from users, developers, and partners, including with a view towards the required software and perception capabilities.
- Define the ecosystem strategy and support for partners to leverage reference designs and next-generation hardware capabilities. Drive requirements for internal infrastructure related to reference designs, including prototyping, testing, and validation pipelines as part of a New Technology Introduction (NTI) process.
- Work directly with external partners on the delivery of reference designs and next-generation hardware, including with product and engineering counterparts.
- Conduct market research alongside UXR to identify product opportunities, market trends, competitive differentiation, and improvement areas for XR hardware.
