Senior Software Engineer, XR Geometry ML Lead

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching ML-based software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, including C++, Python, or other relevant languages for ML and Computer Vision.
  • Experience in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Data Structures/Algorithms.
  • Experience working with 3D geometry, real-time systems, or depth sensing technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role, including mentoring engineers and setting technical direction.
  • Experience in developing accessible technologies, particularly within AR/VR/XR applications.
  • Experience with Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, or other modern ML and CV frameworks.
  • Experience developing real-time geometric sensing solutions for Android and embedded systems.
  • Experience with depth sensing hardware and multi-sensor fusion techniques.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the research, development, and deployment of ML models for geometric sensing across various XR form factors and use cases.
  • Own a suite of ML models covering passive and active depth sensing modalities (e.g., mono cameras, stereo cameras, iToF + dToF active depth sensors) to support 3D reconstruction, content placement, occlusion handling, scene understanding, and passthrough.
  • Define and drive research goals in collaboration with product and research leaders, ensuring novel research transitions effectively from concept to production.
  • Oversee teams working on ML model design, training, deployment, benchmarking, and validation, ensuring models perform robustly on-device.
  • Partner with Depth, 3D Reconstruction, and Scene Understanding teams to productionize new research and scale the Android XR ecosystem.
